Catalano SQuare in Milwaukees Historic Third Ward
Under One Moon is a three-day cultural event featuring the sculptural installation of UK artist Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon. This giant 23’ diameter replica of the moon was created using NASA lunar orbiter imagery. Jerram’s work is an awe-inspiring fusion of imagery, light and sound that brings our fascination with the moon down to earth. Touring the world since 2017, Milwaukee is the only outdoor event in the Midwest. Cultural programming (such as poetry readings, dance, live music, etc.), as well as food and beverage tents, will round out this weekend event. Different cultures around the world have their own historical, cultural, scientific and religious relationships to the moon. And yet somehow, despite these differences, the moon connects us all.
Co-commissioned by a number of creative organizations brought together by Luke Jerram and Norfolk & Norwich Festival. These include: At-Bristol, Kimmel Center, Lakes Alive, Provincial Domain Dommelhof, Brighton Festival, Greenwich+Docklands International Festival, Without Walls, Les Tombées de la Nuit, Rennes and Cork Midsummer Festival. The artwork has also been created in partnership with the UK Space Agency, University of Bristoland The Association for Science and Discovery Centres.
